Located in Muskoka, Lake of Bays is one of Ontario’s classic cottage-country destinations, surrounded by the communities of Dwight, Baysville and Dorset.
The lake combines the traditional Muskoka experience—rocky shorelines, forested islands, beaches and waterfront cottages—with a collection of long-established family resorts and lodges. Bondi Cottage Resort

Bondi is one of the lake’s classic cottage resorts. Established in 1905, the family-owned property encompasses approximately 600 acres and offers numerous individual cottages along with its larger Lodge.
The property has about 1,200 feet of private sandy beach and offers boat rentals in summer, making it particularly attractive to families and visitors who want to spend time fishing and boating directly on Lake of Bays.
Lumina Resort
Location: Dwight
Type: Cottage Resort + Lodge
Lumina is one of the larger traditional resorts on Lake of Bays. The property has 36 chalet cottages plus its Main Lodge spread around a large waterfront estate.
Cottages range from one to four bedrooms, with options suitable for couples, families and larger groups. Lumina also operates more like a traditional resort than a simple cottage rental property, with meals and organized activities available during its primary season. Current 2026 rates and packages remain published by the resort.
Port Cunnington Lodge & Resort
Location: Port Cunnington / Dwight
Type: Historic Lodge + Cottages
Port Cunnington Lodge has been welcoming visitors to Lake of Bays for more than 120 years. Its waterfront accommodations range from traditional cottages and suites to larger chalets.
Several accommodations sit directly along the waterfront, including historic boathouse suites positioned over the water. The resort also specifically promotes an Angler’s Fishing Adventure, making it relevant to the fishing-focused audience we’re building this directory for.
Blue Water Acres Resort
Location: South Portage Bay / Lake of Bays
Type: Cottage Resort
Blue Water Acres is a full-service Muskoka cottage resort located directly on Lake of Bays between Huntsville and Algonquin Park. The property has a long beach and extensive waterfront facilities.
For boaters, complimentary canoes, paddleboats and kayaks are available, while guests bringing their own motorboats can reserve dock slips.
This is another important inclusion because it combines traditional cottage accommodations with the amenities of a larger resort.
Still Bay Cottages
Location: South Lake of Bays / Huntsville side
Type: Small Cottage Resort
Still Bay—formerly Beauview Cottage Resort—is particularly close to the smaller operations we originally set out to find.
It has only five independent cottages, located among the trees along approximately 200 feet of Lake of Bays waterfront. The property has a 60-foot dock where guests can tie up their boats, plus a beach, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and paddleboats.
The resort specifically mentions fishing Lake of Bays for lake trout, speckled trout and bass.
Foxwood Resort
Location: Dwight / Fox Point area
Type: Cottage Resort
Foxwood is another established cottage-resort operation associated with the Lake of Bays/Dwight area. The Dorset community business directory lists Foxwood Resort at 1760 Fox Point Road in Dwight, close to the cluster of established Lake of Bays resorts around Fox Point.
I would include it in our resort directory rather than private vacation rentals because it operates as an established accommodation business.
Why I’m keeping this list tighter than Lac Seul
The search produces a lot of properties when you search “Lake of Bays resorts,” but many aren’t actually on Lake of Bays.
For example, Colonial Bay Cottage Resort appears repeatedly in Lake of Bays-area searches, but its property is actually on Peninsula Lake.
Likewise, the Dorset/Dwight accommodation directories contain properties on Oxtongue Lake, Walker Lake, Cooper Lake and other nearby waters.
I’m deliberately saving those for their correct lake pages rather than inflating this article with businesses that are merely near Lake of Bays.
That’s an important standard I think we should use across all 25 posts.
Fishing on Lake of Bays
Lake of Bays is well suited to visitors who want fishing to be part of a broader Muskoka cottage vacation.
Still Bay specifically identifies lake trout, speckled trout and bass among the fishing opportunities available from its section of the lake.
Several resorts provide docks or non-motorized watercraft, and some cater more directly to anglers. Port Cunnington, for example, currently advertises an Angler’s Fishing Adventure among its resort experiences.
