Accommodations range from one-bedroom units through larger three-bedroom cottages, with fishing, a beach, boat launch and watercraft rentals among the available amenities.
Bay View Resort

Type: Cottage Resort + Boat Rentals
Bay View is a substantial family resort on the west shore of Deer Bay, which forms part of Lower Buckhorn Lake.
The property currently operates 17 cottages plus three efficiency units, including two-, three- and four-bedroom lakefront cottages.
For anglers, Bay View also has dockage and rents aluminum fishing boats and pontoon boats directly from the resort.
Beachwood Resort
Location: Deer Bay / Buckhorn
Type: Full-Service Resort + Cottages
Beachwood offers a different experience from the smaller housekeeping resorts. Its accommodations include a main lodge, lakeview suites, cottages and condos directly around Deer Bay.
The resort’s two-, three- and four-bedroom cottages occupy individual lakeside lots and have their own private docks and campfire areas.
This makes Beachwood worth including even though it is more of a full-service resort than a traditional fishing camp.
Blue Heron Resort
Location: Buckhorn / Lock 31
Type: Family Cottage Resort
Blue Heron sits on Lower Buckhorn Lake immediately below Lock 31 of the Trent-Severn Waterway.
Its housekeeping cottages have three bedrooms and lake views, while the property includes a 200-foot sandy beach. Boats, motors and fuel are available through the resort.
The resort specifically promotes fishing for walleye, muskie, largemouth and smallmouth bass, carp and panfish.
Reach Harbour Marina
Location: South Shore / Buckhorn
Type: Marina + Cottages
This is one of the properties I’d highlight prominently because it closely matches the original type of business that started this entire directory.
Reach Harbour operates three rental cottages plus a 95-slip marina on the southern shore of Lower Buckhorn Lake.
Marina services include a boat launch, fuel, marine supplies, mechanical repairs, power and winter storage. Guests can therefore stay in a cottage while having full marina services immediately available.
Westwind Inn on the Lake

Westwind Inn is an established waterfront accommodation property on Lower Buckhorn Lake. The Buckhorn area’s accommodation directory places it directly on Lower Buckhorn and lists its current direct website.
I’m including Westwind because we’re allowing established lakefront resort accommodations rather than restricting the directory only to housekeeping cottage operations.
Sunrise Resort

Sunrise Resort is another established Lower Buckhorn Lake accommodation business with its own direct website. Both the Buckhorn tourism accommodation directory and its lake-by-lake listings identify Sunrise specifically with Lower Buckhorn Lake.
Additional Lower Buckhorn properties
The Buckhorn tourism directory also identifies Trudes Cottages on Lower Buckhorn Lake, but I don’t currently have a sufficiently reliable standalone business website for it.

Fishing on Lower Buckhorn Lake
Lower Buckhorn is a good multi-species Kawartha fishing destination.
Anglers can target walleye, muskellunge, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black crappie, bluegill and perch. Three Castles specifically promotes all of these species from its Lower Buckhorn Lake location.
Blue Heron similarly highlights walleye, muskie, bass and panfish.
